2006 Honda Trx250ex Review

Hey guys, my parents just bought a brand new TRX 250ex for my sisters to share. Are there any problems areas with this particular quad or is it pretty much bulletproof??? My aunt bought one last year for my cousins and they've ridden it pretty hard for about 200 miles (and maintained it very little). They had the valves checked two weeks ago and they were all out of spec!!! Is this common for this model quad? Also the service manager at the dealer said that Honda airfilters require a specific to honda airfilter oil. Is there any truth to that or is it bull$h*t. Any and all feedback is appreciated!! :bonk:

The valves will go out of adjustment fast if the quad is ridden by novice riders. They tend to not shift at the proper time and run the quad against the rev limiter too much which will contribute to the valves wearing and going out of spec.

The fact that there is no oil filter in the engine is another factor in the valve problem. The cure is to change the oil often.

The air filter oil is the same as any other filter oil on the market. Honda does make a filter oil that washes out with soap and water but it's not required for the quad.

One of the best things you can do for the new riders on this quad is to change the rear balloon tires out for a set of rears that have a shorter(20") profile and a stiffer sidewall. It will make the quad a LOT more stable.
